Latest Unite Construction Rank And File Newsletter AND Protest Details

RANK AND FILE PROTEST/S AGAINST 35% PAY CUT & DE-SKILLING

Newcastle: Wednesday 19th October: 7.00am – 10.00am Walkergate Medical centre Benfield Road. At the end of the Tommy Clark demo last week it was suggested that we go on to Ashington High school. However the consensus opinion is that we should continue to target Tommy Clark at Walkergate Medical Centre. So instead of Ashington High Scholl we will be demonstrating at the same place as last week. Come on lads, the weather forecast say’s no rain tomorrow, so let’s try and double the turn out!

Manchester: Wednesday 19th October: 6.30am – 9.30am Manchester Town hall, Peter Street entrance; NG Baileys site.

Last week at Carrington Paper Mill was the biggest attended protest yet in the North West. Because of the protest some lads were sent back to the agency. But the whole site was closed for the day with all of the sparks refusing to cross the ‘protest picket line’. We need to keep the momentum up and to carry this on [until we win]! Let’s get the Baileys site shut down

London: Wednesday 19th October: 7.00am Balfour Beatty Blackfriars Station construction project:
THIS IS THE BIG ONE: ‘SHUT THIS SITE DOWN’

Balfour Beatty are the driving force behind the proposed 35% pay cut and de-skilling of electricians by the rogue employers withdrawing from the JIB National agreement.

Balfour Beatty has issued ‘Termination Notices to 1700 workers’, telling them that their contracts of employment will end on 7th December.

Balfour Beatty is offering new contracts at £10 p/h (compared to the current £16.25 p/h) - anyone refusing to sign the new contract will be sacked.

Balfour Beatty are one of the worst anti-union blacklisting firms in the construction industry - 6 companies within the Balfour Beatty group were issued Prohibition Notices by the ICO for their role in the illegal Consulting Association blacklist used against union reps.

This is the big one We intend to shut this building site by sheer force of numbers if need be...Saltey Gates: Orgreave: Wapping: And now Blackfriars

Spread the word Come rain or come shine................Never cross a picket line.
