Send it back AS SOON AS POSSIBLE with that YES box ticked. It is also vitally important that you don't bugger it up. Take care not to spoil the paper. Vote YES.
When the YES vote comes in, another company will be on the hit list. Spie? CHT? TC? NGB?
At the same time, John Moore BBES MD sent out a letter to each operative urging them to tick the no box.
Do they really think that people are that stupid? Just because the MD sends you a letter you are going to change your opinion on the biggest attack on our trades ever.
He goes over a couple of points about how pay will stay the same and how travel will stay the same. Then I read it again, nope didn't think so, I cant see one mention to the fact that 70% of the work that we currently do will be removed from our every day tasks and given to a part qualified, semi skilled bloke for considerably less money.
BUT, its all ok, we get a whole extra days holiday. Forget about removing 70% of electricians from the industry. Forget about the fact that they will have FULL control of the card issuing and grading system. An extra days holiday, that will shut them up, they only work on building sites. Bunch of thick twats wont understand or even read BESNA.
Also this week there was another Balfours leaflet doing the rounds
It would also appear that at Blackfriars Station, Balfour Beatty are getting rather rattled.
Earlier this week I received a message from someone a Balfour Beatty operative on the Blackfriars site
"there's been some unrest on the night shift at Blackfriars. One of the lads got caught on a podium with the gate open and got yellow carded and told to not come in tonight. All of us are gonna stage a sit down in the canteen at 8 tonight and stay there for however long it takes. People are starting to stick together on this job now."
Then today I received this follow up message
"just a update about blackfriars, the gaffers had a meeting last night about the Balfour manager who gave out the yellow card and the manager has been suspended for victimizing and bullying. Apparently the top dog on night shift from Balfour's asked the electrical engineer what the worst case scenario would be if this manager stayed on the job and the engineer replied, "well they refused to come out the canteen until so and so got back on the job" (the lad who got carded) and the top dogs reply was " the last thing I need is for the electricians to stop working, get him (the bully manager) off the job"
If there shiting themselves over that then they must be twice as bad when we protest out there. If we keep doing it and get more numbers every week and shut the job I think they'll soon crumble"
Great work lads, Keep it up
